Why do I need to connect both a Facebook Page and an Instagram account?
Why do I need to connect both a Facebook Page and an Instagram account?
To run ads on Meta platforms through Ctrl+A, you must connect your Facebook Page. If that Page has an Instagram Account linked, Ctrl+A automatically gains access to it — you don’t need to grant separate access. This connection is required by Meta to verify your business identity and ensure ads are displayed correctly across Facebook and Instagram.
1. Meta’s Business Identity Requirements
Meta requires every advertiser to associate their ads with a verified business presence.
- A Facebook Page is the primary business identity used to run and authorize ads.
- When that Page is linked to an Instagram Account, Meta automatically includes it under the same business identity.
This setup ensures that your campaigns appear under your official business name and profile image across both platforms.
Important: If your Instagram Account is not yet linked to your Facebook Page, you can connect it in your Meta Business settings before linking your Page in Ctrl+A.
2. Unified Advertising Across Platforms
By connecting your Facebook Page (and its linked Instagram Account), you enable:
- Consistent branding — your company name and profile picture are displayed correctly under each ad.
- Cross-platform delivery — ads can automatically appear on both Facebook and Instagram, letting Ctrl+A’s AI optimize for the best performance.
- Combined analytics — performance data from both platforms is unified for more accurate reporting.
3. Compliance and Transparency
Meta enforces transparency rules for all advertisers. Linking your Page and its connected Instagram Account ensures:
- Ads are shown under a verified business identity, not a personal account.
- Users can see which business is running an ad — a Meta requirement for ad transparency.
- You retain full control over engagement such as messages and comments.
4. Optional: Explicit Instagram Access for Social Posting
If you choose to explicitly grant Ctrl+A access to your Instagram Account during the connection process, this will also enable future features — such as Social Posting.
With this permission, you’ll be able to publish regular Instagram posts directly from Ctrl+A, not just ads.
5. Simplified Management in Ctrl+A
Ctrl+A uses these permissions to:
- Automatically generate and publish ads under the correct Facebook Page and Instagram identity.
- Manage access securely through Meta’s authentication process.
- Prepare for optional modules like social posting without requiring you to reconnect later.
If you do not connect your Facebook Page (or if your Page has no linked Instagram Account), Meta will not allow campaign creation — even when using Ctrl+A’s managed ad accounts.
Summary
When you connect your Facebook Page, Ctrl+A automatically gains access to the Instagram Account linked to it. This is required by Meta to verify your business and display your ads correctly.
Explicitly granting Instagram access is optional but recommended if you plan to use Ctrl+A’s upcoming Social Posting module.
